Welcome to the

Dear Members & Friends,

Hello everyone! As the start of summer is approaching, we have all our hay on the ground and it has rained on it the last three days, which is why I have the time to write this. People used to tell me when we had the dairy that they would cut their hay a week after we did, because it always rained on ours. Some things never change. We did not plant any corn on the Lindsey or Loveless places. In those two fields we planted alfalfa with an oat hay cover. I see Steve has planted lots of corn on the Shea place. How much will be picked & how much will be used for silage remains to be seen. The Gore place, well, is the Gore place.

We will be getting our pheasants and chukar from Hatt's Ranch once again. We found a new supplier for our bobwhites. All birds will cost less this upcoming season. You read this correctly. Prices will be as follows:

Pheasants-------------------------------$22
Chukar---------------------------------$18
Quail-----------------------------------
                                                              $10(September)
                                                              $11 (October)
                                                              $12 (November)
                                                              $13 (December On)

09-10 Stats: The harvest of pheasants was up slightly at 76%. Harvest of chukar & quail was 72% and 69% respectively. Like a broken record, Ronnie Benson harvested 150% of birds planted for him. Scott Wederquist recorded 12 hunting trips while Dave Parker had the most at 13 trips. Thanks fellas!

Euro Hunts: With hunter numbers and birds ordered down this past season, we would like to thank everyone who came on these European style hunts as it helps to get rid of the leftover birds. Steve Merrifield brought a crew on March 13th and again on March 21st. Out of 99 birds, they harvested 76 on the initial blast and ended up with 99.(See photo on other side) Mike McCormick brought a crew on March 28th and out of 82 birds ended up with 67.
( no photo available) RMTV has video of Steve's hunt and should be able to be viewed in the Gunnison & Crested Butte areas.

Dues: All dues will remain the same. If your member number is 99 or less you pay $150 and get 5 birds. If your number is 100 or above you pay $500 and get 10 birds.

Kat from RMTV, Kyle Robbins, Kristina, Sandy & Steve Merrifield and Dean Solem

Hope to see you in September and good luck big game hunting.

Larry
